It has been a great six months for us, with three, well established, retailers choosing to use WinRetail, our advanced EPoS and Retail Management System.
The last, but by no means least, of the trio, is Goulds of Dorchester; a family run business that first opened it doors to the good citizens of Dorchester just after the Victorian era came to its end.
Harry and Florence Gould established a drapers shop in April 1902 in the centre of the ancient market town of Dorchester, at a time when motor cars were an unusual site and very much the preserve of the rich. Indeed, most customers would travel to the store on foot, by bicycle or in a horse drawn carriage as seen in the photograph above.
It was particularly satisfying to have been chosen by Goulds: they had a very clear picture of what they expected from a new system and set us some very exacting criteria, which, we are pleased to say, we have met.
Goulds now consists of three distinct retail divisions: a Household store and a Fashion store in Dorchester, together with a Garden Centre located on the outskirts of Weymouth.
The companies requirement was for a single, integrated, system that would handle all aspects of their retail operations. This included their four food outlets, one of which has the specific requirement to be able to sell takeaway as well as âeat-inâ food and drink. Much takeaway food is of course, free of VAT, so the system has to handle both types of customer, calculating the correct price at the time of payment
