Corby + Fellas have just donated £100 for Conna Powles wing walk on a Stearman bi plane, for Greenfingers Charity, because sick kids need space outside their hospital beds.

Conna’s Story.

The reason why I want to do this wing walk came from attending a conference last year and watching a short film about extremely sick children and their families who, without Green Fingers, would be confined to a hospital room or ward without anywhere else to go.  Greenfingers Charity is dedicated to supporting the children who use hospices around the UK, along with their families, by creating beautiful, outdoor spaces for children to enjoy with family, friends and siblings, whether through play and fun, or therapeutic rest and relaxation.  To date, Greenfingers Charity has created 51 inspiring gardens and outdoor spaces in hospices around the country and has a further waiting list of hospices that need our help now.

Many years ago, whilst sitting bored in a hotel room in China, my work done and no internet, I made a list of things I wanted to achieve and to do.  I have ticked off a few now such as a parachute jump, abseiling, the Moon Walk and still to tick off was wing walking.  I like to complete a challenge or host an event every year for a cancer charity, having lost my brother recently and my sister is in remission.  After seeing the video about the children and the families and the benefits they get from having a beautiful space to go to, Green Fingers seemed the obvious choice to support.

I would appreciate it if you would sponsor me for such a great cause. In the true tradition of garden centre fund raising, I can’t promise to pot up many plants on the wings but I can give it a go!  I have fully funded the wing walk itself so 100% of your donation will be going straight to Green Fingers.
